I'm IN!

If you've been following this blog, or you know me well, you know that I've been in the process of applying to graduate school. A little background, if you're not: for the past four years I had the same job. I was truly grateful during the crappy economy to have a steady job, but it was never what I really wanted to do. However, in 2010 I started to reach the end of my rope. It went from just being a job that I was doing to make money to something I hated. So, after taking some graduate classes over the past few years and talking about it forever, I bit the bullet in June (I think?) and signed up to take the GRE in mid-October. That kicked off the 9 month process of studying, researching, decision making, finding people to write recommendations for me, writing personal statements, and filling out applications (mostly all online now!). I submitted the last of my applications on Monday, and it was all left to the hands of admissions committees.

Well, all my hard work has finally paid off!!!!!!!!!! I got a phone call last night from one of the programs that I applied to saying that not only was I accepted, but I was also being offered some money!! I DID IT, I'M GOING TO GRAD SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, there aren't enough exclamation points to describe how awesome it felt (and is still feeling today!) I am on Cloud 9. I am following my dream to get a master's degree in Historic Preservation. I don't have to worry about accepting another waste-of-time job, because I'm going back to school! I'm still waiting to hear back from the other seven schools I applied to, but no matter what happens, I've been accepted, I'm going to school! Life, folks, is very good right now.

Congratulations to ME!!

I felt it was appropriate to post myself in front of this poster.

I have no physical letter to kiss and caress yet, so this bottle of Andre will have to do!

Congratulations! Best of luck in your graduate pursuits. I bet your GRE scores were a contributing factor not only in your getting admitted but also for the level of financial support you were offered. (from KaplanElisa)

Ahhhh! Congrats! Seriously that is awesome.

I am in the same place- to go back to school or not to go back to school. I hate my day job and not sure if going back would help.. lol

So awesome!
